Totally agree — I had the same issue and solved it by recreating the automation. Took me a while to locate that parameter.
automation_fan: My hypothesis is the problem is a driver conflict. Consider restarting the container and see if if it helps.

Honestly, I'd recommend OpenHAB over Hubitat for flexibility. Keep in mind the tradeoff.
